The Lions are riding a wave of success under Argirios Giannikis.
On Sunday, 1860 can achieve their third win in a row at the Grünwalder Stadium.
Munich – 4:1, 1:1, 1:1, 0:0, 2:0, 3:1 – what reads like coordinates are the results of Argirios Giannikis (43)’s first six games as Lions coach.
The German-Greek got off to an almost perfect start at sixty and is still unbeaten with three wins and three draws.
The points account grows – and of course your self-confidence too.
On Sunday (7.30 p.m., we report live from the Grünwalder Stadium) in the home game against Halle, the Lions want the next trick and jump to cloud nine.
“The mood is focused and confident.
“But of course we know that getting the results wasn’t a given,” says Giannikis.
“We hope it continues like this.”
Ludewig and Steinhardt return to the squad – be careful of the Halle storm trio
The signs for this are not bad at all.
Right-back Kilian Ludewig (23/after illness), who was recently ill, is fit again and is returning to the squad, as is Phillipp Steinhart (31/after a red card suspension), his counterpart on the left.
Giannikis has to do without Abdenego Nankishi (21).
The winter signing (on loan from Werder Bremen) suffered a muscle strain in the 3-1 win against Ingolstadt last week.
He will be out for around ten days.
Albion Vrenezi (30) will probably be in the starting line-up for him, replacing whirlwind Nankishi on the left wing after he was substituted against Ingolstadt.
Sixty has to watch out for Halle's “Triple B storm” around ex-Lion Tarsis Bonga (27), Erich Berko (29) and Dominic Baumann (28).
The guests have already scored 39 goals in 25 games – ten more than the Lions.
“Just because we have a series doesn’t mean that Halle will be a sure-fire success,” warns Giannikis.
“They have a very strong team and are well positioned offensively.”
Giannikis can surpass Köllner - Werner is working on Verlaat's extension
By the way, with a win, Giannikis could kill two birds with one stone - surpass former coach Michael Köllner and continue to collect points from Jesper Verlaat (27).
At the start of his time with the Lions, Köllner collected 13 points in his first seven games in the 2019/2020 season.
But for Giannikis (12 points from six games) it's only a minor matter.
“My focus is not on outdoing a fellow coach.
The goal is to win the game,” says the German-Greek.
Verlaat's personality is much more interesting.
Because: Sports director Christian Werner (42) met with Verlaat's advisor Jan Dreyer on Thursday to talk about the future of the captain, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The poker for a contract extension – Sixty definitely wants to keep the identification figure – has begun.
“We had a good conversation.
Both Christian Werner and Argirios Giannikis make a very good impression on me,” says Dreyer to tz.
“We are pleased about the appreciation that Sixty Jesper shows.”

However, a quick breakthrough is unlikely.
1860 is still working on the budget for the new season.
And this is exactly where Giannikis comes into play again, who could speed up the process with early relegation and boost the all-important season ticket sales.
Giannikis: “Of course we work in the background.
But my focus is on staying in the league.” (Johannes Ohr)
