    FINAL WHISTLE!

FC Bayern loses in Rome and causes the next Tuchel fiasco.

At best, alarming, at worst, frightening, the Munich team presented itself at Lazio, while the Italians secured a deserved victory with a sparkling clean performance.

Bayern managed a decent performance in the first half, but in the second half the already unsettled team completely lost the thread.

Things threaten to get really uncomfortable on Säbener Straße.

    Lazio

    FC Bayern

    Munich: 1:0 (0:0)

    Lineup FC Bayern

Neuer - Mazraoui, Upamecano, Kim, Guerreiro - Kimmich, Goretzka (73. de Ligt) - Sané (81. Tel), Müller (82. Choupo-Moting), Musiala - Kane

    Lineup Lazio Rome

    Gates

    1:0 Immobile (68th, FE.)

    90.+4:

The last four minutes of added time remain uneventful.

It's almost over, Thomas Tuchel's look is empty.

    90.+1:

Things are getting even better for Bayern!

Pedro has a chance to make it 2-0, but then finishes too centrally.

    Neuer catches him.

    90th minute:

Bayern are struggling, but the Italians aren't letting anything happen.

The record champions have five minutes of added time to score an equalizer, but where will it come from?

    87th minute:

The Munich team doesn't have much time left to make the result even more bearable.

Tuchel's team is finding it extremely difficult to get through.

No trace of the impact of the early first half of the season.

The first defeat of the Champions League season so far is getting closer.

    Who is opposing it?

    • “What was he thinking?” Matthäus dissects Tuchel while reading the game

    85th minute:

... and the Englishman himself hammers it into the wall.

    84th minute:

Kane increasingly acts from the ten-man position, Choupo-Moting goes right up front.

    Kane takes a free kick...

    81st minute:

Müller and Sané are off work, Tuchel brings in two fresh strikers with Choupo-Moting and Tel.

Is there still a final offensive from FC Bayern?

There is currently little evidence of this.

    79th minute:

The Romans now take advantage of their comfortable starting position with one more man on the field and limit themselves to defense.

FC Bayern is looking for gaps, trying hard - but remains completely harmless.

Former Eintracht star Kamada is now on the field for Lazio.

    73rd minute:

Very weak performance by FC Bayern in the second half, is Lazio actually celebrating a home win here?

The last 15 minutes begin, Tuchel's team looks indisposed.

In the venerable Stadio Olimpico the atmosphere reaches its peak.

Goretzka is the victim of Upamecano's red card and had to make way for de Ligt.

Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich are horrified by Dayot Upamecano's sending off.

    Upamecano

    flies off the pitch,

    Immobile

    sinks the penalty

    68th minute: GOAL for Lazio!

Ciro Immobile invites Manuel Neuer and confidently sinks the penalty in the bottom right corner.

Crazy – FC Bayern are behind and the misery threatens to continue.

    67th minute: Penalty for Lazio!

    Red card for Dayot Upamecano!

Immobile muddles his way through the Bayern defense, then the ball falls to Isaksen.

Upamecano blocks the shot, but hits the Dane with an open sole on the ankle.

    63rd minute:

FC Bayern make life difficult for themselves - improper passes make it impossible to penetrate deep into the Romans' half.

The passing game was much easier for Tuchel's team in the first half.

    59th minute:

Lazio changes: Lazzari comes on for the injured Hysaj.

    The game remains difficult fare.

    57th minute:

After 17 minutes, FC Bayern managed their first shot on goal: Müller crossed high to Kane, the clipper went up, but couldn't push the ball down enough.

    His header goes over.

    56th minute:

Sané gets bogged down again and again with his dribbling, the sensitive left-footer clearly demonstrates the “cerebralism” criticized by Thomas Müller today.

    Not his evening so far.

    51st minute:

The Romans come out of the locker room much better and initially restrict FC Bayern.

Sané has a chance to counterattack, but plays the ball far too imprecisely.

    Neuer

    saves

    FC Bayern

    from falling behind

    48th minute:

    Bayern are almost behind!

Lazio's Isaksen has the best chance of the game.

Upamecano misses out and is the last man to lose the ball.

Then the Italians move quickly until Isaksen is completely free in front of Neuer.

But the FCB captain's foot saves the Munich team.

Very strong save against the Dane's flat finish.

    KICK-OFF!

    The second half begins.

    No changes on either side.

    Half time

    – The first 45 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico are history.

The conclusion: FC Bayern have a tough job to overcome against Lazio.

The Italians don't allow much and are compact.

The Tuchel team certainly knows how to please with their combination security, but they were unable to take advantage of their few chances.

Not much happens in front of Manuel Neuer's box because the record champions allow little or nothing.

Calmness is therefore required for the Munich team in the second round.

    HALFTIME!

Referee Letexier from France ends the first round.

    45th minute:

Small misunderstanding between Upamecano and Kim with almost major consequences!

Lazio cannot take advantage of the loss of the ball in the last line, ultimately Kim can save in dire need.

Shortly afterwards there is a break.

    42nd minute:

Leroy Sané doesn't manage to do much yet, the right winger sometimes holds the ball for too long and thus takes the pace out of Bayern's combination game, which otherwise runs quite smoothly.

    Musiala

    awards high-profile players

    40th minute:

Here's the next big chance for FC Bayern!

Goretzka rushes towards the Lazio goal and crosses to Musiala at just the right moment.

The 20-year-old leaves the top-class player behind because he was interrupted at the last moment while finishing.

His shot goes just over the goal.

    38th minute

: Isaksen once again ensures the hosts finish.

But Neuer doesn't have to intervene, the attempt is over.

    36th minute:

Minjae Kim anticipates one Lazio attack after the other; the South Korean's qualities are already well known in Italy.

Strong performance from the defender so far.

Sané cannot complete FC Bayern's creative free kick variation

    32nd minute:

    Sané!

FC Bayern executes a creative free kick variation almost to perfection - it was rehearsed.

Kane fakes the shot, Müller puts it across to Sané.

The left-footer takes off and just misses the box.

Lazio goalkeeper Provedel would never have gotten there.

    28th minute

: Upamecano takes a shot from 25 meters, but aims more towards the Roman night sky.

Bayern can't think of much at the moment.

    27th minute:

The word “battle of attrition” probably best describes the game so far.

Apart from the early chances for Kimmich and Kane, there were no dangerous scenes in the penalty area because both teams were extremely disciplined against the ball.

    25th minute:

Lazio fights its way into the game little by little, but the Munich team doesn't allow any chances to score.

On the other hand, it is already clear: breaking this defensive barrier will be a task.

    21st minute:

Luis Alberto sets an exclamation point for Lazio!

The Spaniard comes free from 20 meters and shoots the ball just over Manuel Neuer's goal.

A murmur goes through the eternal city.

    19th minute:

Thomas Müller worked extremely hard in the first 20 minutes - the veteran can be found everywhere on the field and has clever ideas.

He seems determined to prove his worth to Tuchel.

But his teammates still make a few too many inaccuracies.

FC Bayern sets the tone in defensive battle against Lazio

    16th minute:

The Romans are well prepared in defense, but are not able to achieve much going forward.

Kim and Upamecano have Immobile under control, Neuer picks the rest out of the air.

    14th minute:

With a few short, quick combinations, the Munich team tries to pull the Italian defense apart.

This is partly successful, but the closer the penalty area gets, the less precise the Tuchel team becomes.

    9th minute:

FC Bayern now takes command and establishes field superiority.

The Romans retreat to their own half.

    7th minute:

    Kane!

The Englishman finishes from seven meters after Kimmich and Müller had put him in the spotlight excellently.

However, the striker's attempt to volley was a complete failure and the ball went over.

Kimmich has the first Bayern chance

    5th minute:

A fairly open game develops in the first few minutes.

Things get tough in midfield, the duels are tough.

It quickly becomes clear: This is about something!

    2nd minute:

    Bayern's first good move!

Müller finds Sané on the right, who passes it back to Kimmich, who is lurking behind the penalty line.

    His shot goes just wide.

    KICK-OFF!

The ball is rolling in the Stadio Olimpico.

Will FC Bayern have a good away game today?

What face does the team show today?

The record champions are back in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation after Tuchel's three-man experiment against Bayer failed.

Whether this will give Munich more security again will be seen when the ball rolls.

    Update, 8:30 p.m.:

Still half an hour until kick-off!

After the devastating defeat against Leverkusen and the resulting five points deficit to the Werkself, the Champions League is becoming even more important for Bayern's season.

Thomas Tuchel has to deliver in the premier class; with a titleless season his job would be in danger.

    Update, 7:48 p.m.:

    FC Bayern's lineup is here!

As expected, Thomas Müller is in the starting line-up.

Joshua Kimmich also returns to the starting lineup and replaces Aleksandar Pavlovic.

Defense star Matthijs de Ligt, on the other hand, has to sit on the bench again.

Raphael Guerreiro is in the starting line-up for newcomer Sacha Boey.

    Update from February 14th, 7:01 p.m.:

For Bayern star Jamal Musiala, the game against Rome is special in two respects: It would be his 150th competitive game for FC Bayern.

And: Against Lazio in 2021, he became the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history.

Thomas Tuchel will decide whether the 20-year-old will be in the starting line-up - but the chances are good.

Thomas Müller should also have a good chance of playing from the start: According to

    Bild

, Tuchel wants to field the veteran against Lazio.

However, we still have to wait until the official list arrives.

Experience shows that this will be the case between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The fans are already excited to see in which positions Tuchel changes his team.

FC Bayern wants to make amends against Lazio Rome

    First report from February 14th:

Munich - The eighth in the table in Serie A, a team that lost to Feyenoord Rotterdam in the preliminary round of the Champions League - what could go wrong for FC Bayern?

    Some!

At least that's what coach Thomas Tuchel and captain Manuel Neuer emphasize and warn urgently about the opponent before the first leg of the round of 16 in the premier class at Lazio Rome (9 p.m. / TV information can be found here).

“I would never say that they are a small opponent,” said Neuer and added: “We definitely don’t underestimate any teams!” Those from Italy in particular could “all defend very well,” explained Neuer and recalled that the Munich “more often had problems against supposedly easier opponents”.

Champions League round of 16 as an opportunity for Bayern benchwarmers Müller and de Ligt?

Tuchel can therefore “not imagine that anyone is underestimating the game, on the contrary”.

Especially since Bayern are willing to show a completely different side after their very disappointing performance at the league summit at Bayer Leverkusen (0:3).

Tuchel believes his team is practiced at this.

Even after the cup exit in Saarbrücken or the “bitter defeat” in Frankfurt, she was self-critical and came back with victories in Dortmund and Manchester United.

“I am convinced that we have everything we need to show a reaction again.”

In the round of 16 first leg against Lazio there may be a chance for bench warmers Thomas Müller and Matthijs de Ligt to convince Tuchel.

Tuchel found out about Müller's angry speech in a roundabout way.

It is quite possible that FC Bayern's bench against Lazio will look different than in Leverkusen.

Neuer warns about Lazio: “The center will be very compact”

    What awaits Bayern?

“The center will be very compact,” said Neuer.

Lazio will “be relatively compact up front and let us play out wide to avoid us coming into the center.”

Tuchel rates the opponent around ex-Dortmunder Ciro Immobile as “very strong, very homogeneous and very disciplined”.

Rome is “tactically trained and clever”, and also acts “clearly in pressing”, which is typical for teams under coach Maurizio Sarri.

“They are very difficult to beat.” At the press conference, Tuchel announced the “next bad news”.

In addition, his team, to which Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Müller are expected to return, expect “an emotional game” at the Stadio Olimpico, but: “We are prepared for it.”
