Vanessa Voigt has to endure hate comments at the Biathlon World Cup.

She gets little sympathy for this from legend Ole Einar Björndalen.

Nove Mesto – Despite good shooting performances, Vanessa Voigt and Justus Strelow missed a medal in the single mixed relay on Thursday.

The German biathletes once again had to struggle with material problems.

After Janina Hettich-Walz and Benedikt Doll won individual medals, the mood in the DSV team is still significantly better than it was in week one.

Voigt reports hate comments after disappointing performances

Voigt in particular was particularly emotional after the first races.

After the chase, the 26-year-old struggled with tears of disappointment, only to shed tears of joy two days later after the successful individual.

The German biathlete was also showered with hate comments on the Internet after the botched start.

Voigt definitely took that into consideration.

“All I really need right now is a hug and a few kind words and definitely no news that might push me down to earth even more,” said the 26-year-old in the “ARD-Sportschau” podcast.

Biathlon legend Björndalen has no sympathy for Voigt

The German received relatively little sympathy from biathlon legend Ole Einar Björndalen.

The Norwegian said on the Danish television station TV2: “If you are susceptible to something like that, you should simply hide these social media channels during important races.”

The record world champion went even further and criticized Voigt: “Spending a lot of time on your cell phone and on social networks is not the smartest thing when you are at a World Cup where only performance counts.

To allow myself to be influenced by negative criticism seems very amateurish to me.”

Voigt proved individually that the German did not allow herself to be negatively influenced by the comments.

After shooting flawlessly, the 26-year-old took 5th place and was visibly relieved in the subsequent interview - but ARD reporter Christian Dexne made a pretty amusing faux pas.
