Another skier has a hard time on the weekend.
Young talent Malorie Blanc should have made her World Cup debut soon, but now she is out for a long time.
Crans Montana – After the greatest successes of her young career, the shock followed.
Just a few weeks ago, Malorie Blanc won gold in the Super-G and the team combination at the Junior World Ski Championships in France and also secured silver in the downhill, but the young talent was seriously injured in the second European Cup downhill last weekend .
Young talent Malorie Blanc needs surgery after a fall
As the Swiss Ski Association Swiss-Ski announced on Monday evening, Blanc suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee as well as a tear in the lateral meniscus and a strain in the inner collateral ligament.
The 20-year-old will undergo surgery in Valais in the near future.
The young world champion is taking a different path than her teammate Joana Hählen.
The 32-year-old decided against surgery in 2018 after tearing her left cruciate ligament and also tore her right cruciate ligament at the end of 2021 - without even realizing it.
It was only after the Swiss had to abandon the descent in Cortina d' Ampezzo a few weeks ago due to knee problems that she was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament - but two years ago.

Blanc was due to make her World Cup debut next weekend
Blanc, on the other hand, opts for the usual method for a torn cruciate ligament and has surgery.
The season ended prematurely for the 20-year-old.
Particularly bitter: After her strong performances at the Junior World Championships and in the European Cup, the young Swiss should have made her debut in the World Cup next weekend in Crans-Montana (February 16/17 Downhill, February 18 Super-G).
Nothing will come of this for now.
“She sat in the back after a jump and the pressure was too much,” her father Alex told
Blick
on the phone on Sunday .
The first suspicions already suggested a cruciate ligament tear.
