The German biathlete Hannah Kebinger will not take part in any more competitions this season.

But she announces a comeback.

Nove Mesto – The Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic are in full swing and with Janina Hettich-Walz and Benedikt Doll the German team was finally able to win the first two medals.

Hanna Kebinger will not be taking part in the World Championships - and she will not be taking part in any more races this season.

Biathlon ace Kebinger ends the season early

“Dear winter fans, the Biathlon World Championships are currently taking place in Nove Mesto, which should be my clear goal for the season.

After last season with the World Cup relay medal, I wanted to build on that this year.

Unfortunately, with the Covid illness in Östersund at the end of November, all momentum and lightness were lost.

“I did everything I could to get fit, but I had to realize that my body was on strike and there was no energy, which is why I had to end my season early in consultation with the team doctors,” she said on her Instagram account.

“I am convinced that with a little rest the body and mind are ready for new actions.

So brace yourself!

In the meantime, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my teammates,” the 26-year-old continued.

Hanna Kebinger started the 2023/24 season with high hopes and is experiencing a winter to forget.

After weak results at the home World Cup in Ruhpolding and Oberhof, without a top 20 result in the individual, the DSV drew the consequences and even removed the 26-year-old from the World Cup squad for the time being.

Kebinger's return to the Biathlon World Cup is planned

“In this case there is not much to talk about.

That means the end of the World Cup for them.

But that's not because we doubt Hanna, but because she doesn't have the energy to achieve absolute excellence.

The World Cup is now really of secondary importance,” said sports director Felix Bitterling from the German Ski Association at the time about the Kebinger decision.
