FC Bayern Munich loses 0-1 at Lazio Rome.

Before the game, the fans created a special Champions League moment that was typically Italian.

Rome – What a mood!

The first leg of the Champions League round of 16 between Lazio Rome and FC Bayern had a worthy setting in the venerable Stadio Olimpico.

In the end, of course, the guests didn't like the result - but the atmosphere set standards.

Have you heard it too?

The Champions League ritual at a Bayern game only exists with Italian teams

The Laziali Tifosi had put together an impressive choreography, and there were one or two fireworks before the game began.

And of course the Champions League anthem was also played.

At the end there was something special to hear that only happens when Italian teams play.

Have you noticed it too?

Traditionally, fans of Italian clubs sing the last two words of the anthem loudly.

That's how it was on Wednesday evening, when around 70,000 followers shouted a long, drawn-out "The chaaaaaampions" into the Roman night - a real goosebumps moment!

The Lazio fans created a great atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium - in the end their team won the first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League against FC Bayern 1-0.

Special feature for Italian teams in the Champions League

There are countless videos on social networks that show exactly these seconds of the anthem.

The reputation is of course particularly impressive in the very large arenas such as the Roman Olympic Stadium or the San Siro in Milan.

If both clubs from the city are in a premier class semi-final, that will of course be impressive - as was the case between Inter and AC in May 2023.

It is not known where the Italian ritual originated - but it is something special for the atmosphere in every Champions League game.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is wobbling – Hansi Flick an issue in Munich?

The mood in Munich after the disaster in Leverkusen was of course anything but special.

Of course, the 0-1 loss in Rome didn't make things any better.

Coach Thomas Tuchel continues to have to put up with a lot of criticism.

This is also because he is currently unable to find any explanations for Bayern's poor results.

At Säbener Strasse, people are apparently already considering Hansi Flick's return to Munich - meanwhile, the irritable Tuchel blocked all questions about his future.
