Highlights: Ligue 1: PSG supporters banned from traveling to Nantes on Saturday. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin banned the travel of Paris Saint-Germain supporters for the Ligue 1 football match. This travel ban is justified by “a real and serious risk of clashes between supporters of the two clubs” during the meeting, scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Beaujoire stadium. The Council of State must examine, this Friday, at the end of the morning, an appeal requesting the suspension of this decree.

This travel ban is justified by “a real and serious risk of clashes between supporters of the two clubs” during the meeting, scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Beaujoire stadium.

Saturday “from midnight to midnight, individual or collective travel, by any means, of any person claiming to be a supporter of Paris Saint-Germain or behaving as such, is prohibited between the municipalities of the Île region -de-France, on the one hand, and the commune of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), on the other hand,” according to the decree.

Place Beauvau argues in this decree that Paris SG away matches “are frequently sources of disturbances to public order resulting from the violent behavior” of certain ultras.

This behavior is also adopted “frequently” by supporters of FC Nantes “around and within the Beaujoire stadium”.

On December 2, 2023, a supporter died near the Beaujoire stadium, on the sidelines of the match between FC Nantes and Nice.

The ministry notes more particularly the “relations marked by animosity” between the two camps, “antagonism” having led to “several clashes requiring the intervention of the police” during previous meetings.

At the call of the National Association of Supporters, the Council of State must examine, this Friday, at the end of the morning, an appeal requesting the suspension of this decree.

In December, the Interior banned the movement of supporters for five matches on the 15th day of Ligue 1, including PSG-Nantes, in a context of “exacerbation” of “increasingly serious” violence.

In addition, 12 PSG supporters, “claiming to be ultra-right” according to a police source, spent a few hours in police custody after being arrested Tuesday evening.

The police suspected them of wanting to attack fans of the Spanish club Real Sociedad present in Paris for the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League.
