After the Champions League defeat against Lazio Rome, an FC Bayern player is confronted with racist hostility.
The club becomes clear.
Munich – After the clear 0-3 defeat in the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen, everything should be different in the Champions League at Lazio Rome.
But FC Bayern again appeared very unsettled in the first leg of the round of 16, and in the end the Italians secured a 1-0 win against the German record champions with a clean performance.
Particularly unfortunate: The red card for Dayot Upamecano, who was thrown off the pitch after a foul with an open sole in the second half.
However, what followed is inexcusable.
Racist hostilities against Upamecano online
It wasn't the first time that racist hostilities against the player occurred online after Upamecano's red card.
FC Bayern reacted immediately and became clear.
“The racist comments on social media against Dayot Upamecano are absolutely despicable.
FC Bayern condemns this in the strongest possible terms.
Anyone who makes comments like this is not a fan of our club.
We stand behind you, Upa,” the club wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Not the first time: Racist hostility against Upamecano
Review April 2023: FC Bayern is in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the opponent is Manchester City.
Defender Upamecano unfortunately played a central role in England's 2-0 win when he lost the ball to Jack Grealish.
Shortly afterwards the goal was scored for the opponent.
After the game, coach Thomas Tuchel said on the microphone on
Amazon Prime
: “The second goal cost us a lot of self-confidence and shifted the momentum that was entirely ours.”
Shortly afterwards, Upamecano's comment columns on Instagram were flooded with racist hostility.
Even then, FC Bayern reacted immediately and stood in front of their player.
Now it happened again.
The fact that this is only a small part is clear from FC Bayern's post on X.
Many fans there complained about the racist hostility and wished Upamecano all the best.
