Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is currently being heavily criticized.

Sports psychologist Matthias Herzog analyzes the Munich crisis and gives advice.

Munich - Red alert at FC Bayern.

Five points behind Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen, 0-1 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Lazio Rome - and because the Munich team has long since been eliminated from the DFB Cup, the German record champions are threatened with their first titleless season since 2012.

Particularly criticized: Thomas Tuchel (50).

The coach seems perplexed.

Lothar Matthäus (62) identified a major weakness.

“The psychology is not right,” the Bayern legend told

Bild

.

Sports psychologist Matthias Herzog (47) also sees it that way.

interview with the expert.

Mr. Herzog, do Bayern have a head problem?

Yes.

It's frightening to see the quality at FC Bayern that's currently left on the street.

It's not like the players have forgotten how to play.

They have lost the fun of football.

And due to the negative experiences of the last few weeks, also self-confidence.

Following a famous quote from Oliver Kahn, leading player Thomas Müller spoke freely about the players' “missing balls” after the Leverkusen bankruptcy.

He called for more courage to perform more freely.

It is “too cerebral” at the moment.

And Thomas Tuchel, in contrast to sports director Christoph Freund, said on DAZN before the defeat against Lazio Rome that he did not watch Müller's interview afterwards.

Tuchel seems to have heard little about emotional intelligence or is not interested in it, like his players' interviews.

He would be well advised to listen to them.

Especially that of Thomas Müller.

If Tuchel doesn't trust Müller on the pitch, then he should at least trust his game analysis.

Why?

If Tuchel doesn't trust Müller on the pitch, then he should at least trust his game analysis.

After all, the guy has been playing for FC Bayern forever and knows the club almost better than his wife.

He is one of the most successful German footballers when it comes to trophies in the closet.

Müller gets to the point every week – even publicly.

Müller says it exactly: “We play too intellectually.

The balls are missing.” Tuchel is responsible for that.

He turns football into a complicated science, as he showed with his tactics in Leverkusen, for example.

This sport can be so simple.

That should work in training, say players and coaches.

One problem is that hardly any player knows where he stands with Tuchel.

This is shown by the fact that, in contrast to training, the relaxedness on the pitch is missing in the game.

Tuchel deprives players of their strengths by not using them in their regular positions, as Boey did last week, and then criticizing them when things don't work.

What also strikes me is that he has his favorites like Kane.

Such players are constantly defended when they don't play well.

And others like Müller, Goretzka and de Ligt are sidelined.

His demands for a change in the summer alone have caused so much unrest in the team.

I think Tuchel is currently acting disrespectfully, arrogantly and selfishly.

How do you come to your harsh judgment?

As a coach, Tuchel should be a role model.

Is it exemplary to respond to criticism in a bitchy manner before and after games, to avoid questions and to blame others?

If the players use that as an example, it's no wonder the team isn't performing.

It seems to me as if Tuchel is baking his Bayern cake without a recipe and has been doing so since he took office.

Matthias Herzog

Against Lazio he again relied on the usual processes and so-called mentality players.

Nevertheless it was 0:1

.

It seems to me as if he has been baking his Bavarian cake without a recipe and has been doing so since he took office.

The cake is quite salty and falls apart.

No consistency.

The players' self-confidence is almost zero.

Even returning to the actually stable formation doesn't bring about a change.

Players like Müller and Kimmich, in whom he has directly or indirectly denied trust, should pull the cart out of the mud!?

Interesting idea and ridiculous at the same time.

How can Tuchel turn things around?

If Tuchel wants a turnaround, he should set up the team themselves and let them run freely.

Then she can perform freely.
