Hanging but winning against Gaël Monfils in the 2nd round in Rotterdam, the Italian Jannik Sinner (4th player in the world), winner of the Australian Open, warmly greeted the French veteran (37 years old) in comments reported by Tennis Majors:
“He’s an incredible showman.
All the crowds love him and I think that's what this sport needs.
I want him to continue as long as possible and I hope I can share the pitch with him as many times as possible, because he is an extraordinary player.
When I arrived at the circuit, he was nice from the start, which is also something to be admired.
I think the sport needs him.”
