Frank Buschmann takes a break.

The cult commentator questions social media in an emotional statement, but wants to come back.

Munich – This comes as a surprise.

It's not that Frank Buschmann didn't comment on the Super Bowl on RTL on Sunday.

That has been clear for a long time, and the cult commentator will no longer be covering any sporting events in the near future.

The 59-year-old announced this in an emotional statement on Instagram on Monday.

Buschmann “broken and tired” – fans give him the rest

Although Buschmann said in his podcast “Eavesdropping – Finally something with sports” in December that he would not comment on the Super Bowl because “he was broken and tired,” there was occasional criticism of his decision on social media.

Instead of the Super Bowl, Buschmann commented on the RTL format “American Ice Football”.

The 59-year-old responded to the criticism immediately.

“It's unbelievable how arrogant people are on these networks!

I have no idea about anything and certainly not about my life, but I'm just chatting away.

It sucks!” wrote the moderator on

on Sunday .

Buschmann questions comments on social media

On Monday, Buschmann took a picture with colleagues on Instagram and explained that he was taking a break - also because of social media.

“Now things are changing in the media, that's completely normal and in some areas it's certainly a good thing, but I'm starting to wonder more and more about where I see myself,” Buschmann asks himself openly.

“For some time now I've been taking things to heart that I previously didn't care about.

What do people write on social media and what is made of it?

Who reacts to this and how?

I've already made a video about it.

I used to shine on it!

Today I'm less and less able to do that.

But that’s up to me,” the 59-year-old continues.

Buschmann reassures fans and swaps the commentary booth for the ski slopes

However, Buschmann doesn't want to completely quit his job; the commentator will rather seek help in order to find fun in his job as a commentator again.

“I'm taking a long break now and will have enough time and enough great people to help me find a path that's fun.

Because that should always be the most important thing, otherwise you can’t do this job well!”, says the 59-year-old, explaining his further approach.

Buschmann received a lot of support for the post.

Many fans wished the commentator a nice break and his speedy return.

The commentator explained in a final story that the numerous Buschmann supporters don't have to worry about him.

The 59-year-old wrote there: “Don’t worry, dad is fine.

My post on my account should simply take you with you, nothing more.”

Finally there was a “see you soon” and three skier emojis.

Seems as if Buschmann has swapped the piste for the commentary booth for now.
