“No sporting rivalry justifies such behavior. The Nice supporters and their drivers avoided what could have been a terrible accident while they were on the highway
,” replied the Rhône prefect via X.
“The police are continuing their research in order to bring the perpetrators to justice
,” she assured.
The incident took place around 12:45 a.m. Saturday on the A46, in the north-south direction near the Communay area.
The bus, which was carrying around thirty Nice supporters and two drivers, was hit by a stone, probably thrown from a bridge, which passed through the windshield and hit a passenger, the prefecture explained to AFP.
The vehicle stopped in the motorway area while the police and firefighters intervened.
Investigations are ongoing.
