“We all have legendary memories of the Games that we saw on TV and to be able to claim a medal is already grandiose,”
said the French rugby star in a video published Friday on the social networks of the French Olympic team.
“It simply represents the Holy Grail of sport
. ”
The usual captain of the French XV is skipping the Six Nations Tournament this year to devote himself to his Olympic dream.
He must notably participate in the next two stages of the world rugby sevens circuit in Vancouver (February 23-25) and Los Angeles (March 2-3).
“There are still quite a few changes (between the 15th and the 7th)
,” he explains.
“It remains the same sport, but the playing principles are different, as are the physical and athletic profiles.
So I’m in a learning phase at the moment.”
Asked about his potential chances of a medal in another sport, Dupont, modest, affirms that he has none, and especially not in judo:
“If they put me on a tatami facing Teddy Riner, it will be complicated for Me"
