Former vice world champion Stefan Hadalin has ended his career with immediate effect.

The ski star cried at the announcement.

Ljubliana – The 2023/24 ski season is in full swing, but no longer for Stefan Hadalin.

The Slovenian has ended his career with immediate effect and will no longer compete in any World Cup races.

In the end, health was the deciding factor for Hadalin to retire his skis at just 28 years old.

Ski star announces end of career

“As you probably know, I have been struggling with health issues over the past few years.

Unfortunately, despite all the work, time and dedication I've put in, I've reached the point where I just can't do it anymore.

I can no longer ignore the signals my body is giving me.

I can no longer bear the pressure that comes with the rhythm of competition in top-level sport,” wrote Hadalin on his Instagram account.

“I achieved results that I am proud of and that will remain in my memory forever.

I met many good people who became my friends.

Nevertheless, I was faced with challenges, fears and trials that seemed insurmountable, but I managed to overcome them,” he continued.

Numerous ski racers, including friends and rivals, congratulated the Slovenian on his career and wished him all the best for life after ski racing.

“Only the best for your future,” wrote the Austrian former ski world champion Marco Schwarz, for example.

“Congratulations Stef!

You have achieved many successes and caused many laughs on the race track!

All the best,” said US slalom specialist Erik Read.

Former ski world champion with an emotional statement

One day after his moving statement on Instagram, Stefan Hadalin held a press conference to announce the end of his career.

The 28-year-old was very emotional and fought back tears.

Stefan Hadalin competed in 130 World Cup races in his career.

His greatest success was the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in Åre, Sweden.

He only had to admit defeat to superstar Alexis Pinturault, who won gold by 24 hundredths.

In addition to Haladin, Swiss ski ace Vivianne Härri is also hanging up her skis with immediate effect.

Your reasoning is at least unusual.
