Munich - Five meter run-up, well-considered shot with the inside into the bottom left corner, boundless celebration: these scenes in German football will forever be associated with Andreas Brehme.
The left-back became world champion in 1990 and with him the entire Federal Republic.
Now Brehme is dead.
According to Franz Beckenbauer: Football Germany is in mourning again
At the age of 63, the Hamburg native died unexpectedly of a cardiac arrest on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
After team manager and emperor Franz Beckenbauer, Brehme is the second Italian world champion to die in 2024 - and the first player ever.
