The day before Christmas Eve, ex-national player Andreas Brehme made German football fans happy with a photo of Franz Beckenbauer.
Brehme now spoke about the background to the recent meeting with his former companion, with whom he won the 1990 World Championship.

It was also about the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation.
The foundation, of which Heidi Beckenbauer is now in charge as chairwoman, has been around for 40 years.
Since then, its goal has been to provide financial assistance to people with disabilities or those who are sick or in debt.
Brehme has been supporting the organization for some time.

The day before Christmas Eve, Andi Brehme shared photos with Franz Beckenbauer, who is rarely in public due to health problems.

An eye infarction in 2019 caused Beckenbauer to go blind in his right eye.

On Friday, Brehme somewhat surprisingly published a photo together with Beckenbauer on his Instagram channel and wrote: “Christmas greetings from the Kaiser and me!”
Even Brazil's 2002 World Cup winner Roberto Carlos responded to the post.

Franz Beckenbauer: The football icon's last public appearance was in August
The last time that FC Bayern's honorary president appeared in public was a while ago.
At the end of August, the German football icon was a guest at the Sinsheim Arena and watched the Bundesliga game between TSG Hoffenheim and FC Augsburg.
Given his health, he obviously has to take it easy, which is why pictures like the one on Brehme's Instagram account have become rare.
