FC Bayern and coach Thomas Tuchel will go their separate ways from the summer.
The tz explains what the Munich bosses hope for from the announcement.
Munich – Now it is official what had recently become apparent after three defeats in a row: Thomas Tuchel (50) is allowed to continue as coach of FC Bayern for the time being.
From the summer onwards, the coach and club will go their separate ways despite the contract until 2025.
The German record champions announced this via press release on Wednesday morning.
Bayern boss Dreesen on separation from Tuchel: “Amicable conversation”
“In an open, good conversation we came to the decision to mutually end our collaboration in the summer,” explained board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen (56).
“Our goal is to carry out a sporting realignment with a new coach for the 2024/25 season.
Until then, every single person in the club is expressly challenged to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and the Bundesliga.”
In his statement, the CEO also explicitly took the team to task.
“Especially in the Champions League, we are convinced that after the 0-1 defeat in the first leg at Lazio Rome, we will move into the quarter-finals in the second leg

On the way to the club's underground car park, a fan asked him: "Does Tuchel fly or doesn't he fly?" With a grin, Dreesen replied: "Let's take a look..."

Thomas Tuchel's time at FC Bayern ends after just over a year
The amicable separation was finalized that same evening.
Tuchel and Dreesen informed the team of their joint decision before training on Wednesday.
“We have agreed that we will end our collaboration after this season.
Until then, I and my coaching team will of course continue to give everything for maximum success,” the coach is quoted as saying.
The definite end should be a relief not only for parts of the team, but also for Tuchel.
In March 2023, he succeeded Julian Nagelsmann (36) as coach of FC Bayern.
Tuchel won the championship title with FC Bayern on the last matchday.
However, observers have long had the feeling that the coach and the club were at odds.

A lot of criticism of Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel in the recent past
Tuchel has been exposed to increasingly loud criticism, especially in the current season.
The accusations: no further development of the team, no signature recognizable in the style of play, lack of self-criticism after defeats, hardly any connection to the team's important stars.
But the truth is also: Tuchel had to struggle with an incredible number of injuries this season.
The club was also unable to fulfill his transfer request for a Holding Six.

Much more important, however, is that the FCB bosses hope that the weakening team will now feel like they have grabbed the honor.
The DFB Cup has been gone for a long time.
But even with eight points behind league leaders Leverkusen, theoretically anything is still possible in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
