The balance between the two traditional clubs has been even in recent games.
In the previous season, the teams won their home games 2-0.
The first leg at BBBank Wildpark in September 2023 ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ragnar Ache (5th) gave the Palatinate team the lead before Marvin Wanitzek (45th + 5th) equalized before the break.
In total there were 64 competitive games between FCK and KSC.
The Baden team emerged victorious 15 times, 26 games ended in a draw and the Red Devils were able to celebrate 23 times.
Chaos season at FCK – KSC relies on consistency
1. FC Kaiserslautern is going through a turbulent season so far.
Friedhelm Funkel is already the third coach this season.
The 70-year-old succeeds Dimitrios Grammozis, who only succeeded Dirk Schuster in December.
For Funkel, the game against KSC will be his home debut as FCK coach.
From 1980 to 1983 he was active as a player at Betzenberg.
Karlsruher SC has relied on consistency in recent years.
Christian Eichner will be in office for exactly four years on February 19th.
Before the season, KSC had hopes of returning Lars Stindl.
The 35-year-old has eight goals to his name so far, but he is currently struggling with calf problems and has not been available for the new year.

FCK against Karlsruher SC: The derby is running live on TV and stream here
The southwest derby between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Karlsruher SC will not be shown live on free TV on Saturday, but can only be seen live on the pay TV channel Sky.
The top game between 1. FC Magdeburg and FC Schalke 04 will be shown on Sport1 on Saturday evening. Fans can watch the FCK home game either in the conference (Sky Sport Bundesliga 2) or in the individual game function (Sky Sport Bundesliga 4).
There will be no free and legal live stream for the duel between Lautern and KSC.
However, Sky customers have the opportunity to watch the encounter online in a stream using the Sky Go app.
The first highlights on free TV will be available on Saturday evening in the ARD Sportschau.
