“
I had the privilege of knowing Robert for over 40 years, and his presence always brought joy and positivity to any room he entered.
I
will never forget the Rockets teams he was a part of in the 80s, which made the finals, and the love he had for the sport.
My sincere condolences to his wife, Diana, and all those who were dear to him.
Robert's absence will be deeply felt and we will remember him fondly,”
the Rockets owner said in a statement.
Under the Texan jersey from 1977 to 1988, Reid allowed the franchise to reach its first NBA finals in 1981 before returning there in 1986. Both times, the Rockets came up against the Boston Celtics of Larry Bird and all his band.
