Tuchel will now continue until June 30th and should save something from this messed up season by then.
In the DFB Cup they sensationally failed in the second round against third division team Saarbrücken, and in the Bundesliga they are now eight points behind after the embarrassment in Leverkusen and the bankruptcy in Bochum.
In the past, there were similar gaps to the top of the table.
But back then the rival was called Borussia Dortmund.
And BVB's knees wobbled with great regularity when the big goal seemed within reach.
In the end, the people of Munich always laughed.
Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern Munich: Not a success story – as of now
Bayer Leverkusen doesn't seem to be doing FC Bayern this favor - the Werkself win their games with alarming regularity.
Minor slip-ups are immediately answered with a win a week later.
The team of coach Xabi Alonso, who is considered Tuchel's successor in Munich, has been unbeaten in the Bundesliga for 32 games (as of February 21st).
And so it seems likely that Bayern will not become German champions this season for the first time since 2012.

So will Munich really not win a single title this season?
The Champions League still remains - although they lost the first leg of the round of 16 against Lazio Rome 0-1.
Something that can be turned around in a second leg in front of a home crowd.
But if you compare the current Bavarians with other European heavyweights from Paris or Madrid, then you lack belief in a triumph in the premier class.
