FC Bayern Munich probably wants to recruit Xabi Alonso as Thomas Tuchel's successor.

However, the Spaniard's future is uncertain.

Munich – The collaboration between FC Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel ends in the summer.

The troubled series champion will regroup.

A new coach is also needed for this change.

Zinedine Zidane seems to be a contender.

Sebastian Hoeneß is also under discussion.

reporter Florian Plettenberg reports on X (formerly Twitter), Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso is now the top candidate to succeed Tuchel.

At the sports broadcaster, the transfer expert also gives Bayern “good to very good chances” of signing Alonso.

Is FC Bayern possibly drawing an exit clause?

Just at the beginning of the month, Xabi Alonso and league leaders Bayer Leverkusen plunged FC Bayern into a deep crisis with a 3-0 win.

The Spaniard shines with the Werkself through some spectacular and at the same time highly effective football.

The Rhinelanders' first championship is also realistic due to FCB's low form.

The 42-year-old seems to have the caliber for the coaching position at his former club, both professionally and personally.

Alonso's contract with Bayer runs until 2026. A farewell to Leverkusen is by no means certain.

The coach could continue the project with his current employer beyond the summer.

However, the Munich team faces great competition in the vying for the head coach.

Bayern or Liverpool: Which change appeals to Alonso more?

Xabi Alonso is also considered a possible successor to Jürgen Klopp at his former club Liverpool FC, who will be leaving the “Reds” at the end of the season after nine years.

The Spaniard would inherit a difficult legacy there, but would probably have the necessary time to rebuild.

The Klopp era will not become a benchmark in the first few months.

Winning the English championship would not be a compulsory task.

Is that an advantage for the English over FC Bayern?

Alonso now knows the Bundesliga.

The upcoming upheaval at the German record champions, for which the 2010 world champion could bring creative player Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen with him, would be more unsettling.

On the one hand, the German championship would be mandatory despite the reformation.

On the other hand, the question must be asked whether a major change is even possible at Bayern with the long-established people in charge.

Is Liverpool the more attractive option at the moment?
