While Honorary President Uli Hoeneß is present at the FC Bayern office, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge acts more subtly from the background.
Munich – The circle that was privy to Thomas Tuchel's summer coaching dismissal from the start was kept small.
In addition to Bavaria's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and President Herbert Hainer, the two supervisory board members Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß were also included.
Because in the background the long-standing management duo of the German record champions are pulling the strings more than ever.
Bayern CEO Dreesen regularly asks Hoeneß and Rummenigge for advice
While Hoeneß is currently present at the office on Säbener Strasse at least once a week, Rummenigge acts more subtly from the background.
It's no secret that financial expert Dreesen, as a non-expert CEO, regularly seeks advice from the two grandees.
“There are very successful people from finance in the management team.
I know them all and have a good relationship with them.
They are right there, but next to them I lack the sporting competence,” questioned record national player Lothar Matthäus recently in his Sky column.
Rummenigge and Hoeneß are also aware of this fact - and are therefore more involved in day-to-day business than their official area of responsibility as members of the Supervisory Board requires.

Bavaria's Honorary President Hoeneß shows his presence
The honorary president in particular is getting involved again.
Hoeneß was not only the driving force behind the engagement of Christoph Freund as sports director, the patron is currently extremely busy revolutionizing the promotion of talent on campus in close consultation with Freund and head of young talent Jochen Sauer.
Hoeneß' presence does not make it any easier for the new leadership to emancipate themselves from him.
Maybe Max Eberl taking office as sports director can change something.
Because: When Oliver Kahn was dismissed as CEO and Hasan Salihamidzic as sports director, the long-time Bayern manager announced: “Karl-Heinz and I promised that we would help until we had filled the positions that needed to be filled .”

In December, the 72-year-old announced during a double appearance with sports director Freund on Servus TV that he wanted to withdraw from day-to-day business in the first half of 2024: “As soon as we have the feeling that FC Bayern has returned to calm waters , then we will take a back seat again and make sure things go well on the supervisory board.”
However, they will still be involved in the search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel.
Especially since Rummenigge is said to have an excellent relationship with his preferred candidate, Xabi Alonso - and the long-standing CEO, successor Dreesen, is “hanging in his ear” as an advisor.
FC Bayern: Dreesen and Rummenigge are close
Proof of how close the relationship between the two is: Rummenigge was the driving force behind the move of striker Harry Kane last summer - after all, the biggest Bayern transfer of all time.
He continues to maintain the best and most high-profile network with the top decision-makers in European football.
That certainly can't hurt in the event of a possible coaching transfer from Alonso.
Interesting: According to a survey by the sports marketing agency ONE8Y among supporters of the German record champions, the Spanish preferred candidate is not the top favorite for this position.
Alonso is only in third place with nine percent, level with Jogi Löw and Miroslav Klose.
Hansi Flick would like more fans (11 percent).
The fans would prefer to see Jürgen Klopp (27 percent) in the Munich coaching zone.
Rummenigge and Hoeneß should also like this idea.
