The former squad athlete died after a long illness at the age of just 34.

Ski star and Olympic champion Wendy Holdener lost her brother on Thursday (February 22nd).
The Swiss ski association Swiss-Ski announced this at the request of the family.
Kevin Holdener was only 34 years old.
Brother of Olympic champion Holdener dies at the age of 34
Swiss-Ski writes in the press release: “At the request of the family, Swiss-Ski is fulfilling the painful obligation to inform about the passing of Kevin Holdener, brother and manager of Wendy Holdener and former squad athlete.”
The Holdener family also has a say in the press release in the form of ski star Wendy.
“In the early morning of February 22nd, Kevin, my brother, confidant and manager, my parents' son, brother of Steve and husband of Carmen, passed away at the age of just 34,” shares the 30-year-old.

Wendy Holdener's brother died in the presence of the family
Her brother Kevin was diagnosed with a complex and rare form of cancer when he was 20.
“The cancer thwarted Kevin’s dream of having his own skiing career.
“But Kevin impressed us with his will to survive and his love of life, he bravely stood up to the disease and was able to gain a few more valuable years of life from it,” the statement continues.
After a 14-year battle with the disease, Kevin died on Thursday.
“Now, unfortunately, his superpowers have diminished.
In the presence of his family, Kevin began his final journey after a long illness that he endured with dignity.
We miss him a lot now.
Kevin's death breaks our hearts and leaves a void in our family and community that will never be filled.
We are incredibly sad.
We ask you to remember Kevin fondly – and to give us time.”

Wendy Holdener was skiing with her brother just a few days ago
Just a few days ago, Wendy Holdener posted on Instagram that she and her brother were skiing with their wife Carmen.
The Swiss woman wrote: “Ohh, I missed that.
Freeskiing at home is always cool.
With less pain in my ankle it was a lot of fun!” Holdener then followed up with the hashtags QualityTime and Family Ski Day.
It is unclear exactly when the recordings came from.
However, the Olympic champion broke her ankle in December, which explains the sentence “It was a lot of fun with less pain in her ankle.”
Looking back, the best thing for Holdener was that she was able to spend time with her brother again... (
