Ernüchterung statt magischer Europa-Nacht: Eintracht Frankfurt ist bereits in der ersten K.-o.-Runde der Conference League gescheitert. Der Fußball-Bundesligist verlor das Playoff-Rückspiel gegen Union Saint-Gilloise mit 1:2 (0:0) und schied nach dem 2:2 im Hinspiel aus.
Vor 57.300 Zuschauern boten die Hessen im Duell mit dem Tabellenführer aus Belgien eine enttäuschende Vorstellung und müssen sich jetzt ganz auf die Liga konzentrieren. Cameron Puertas (47. Minute) und Dennis Eckert (80.) besiegelten mit ihren Toren die Pleite des Europa-League-Siegers von 2022, für den Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe (88.) nur noch der Anschluss gelang.
ENDE: Das Spiel ist aus, Eintracht Frankfurt verliert mit 1:2 und scheidet aus der Conference League aus. Insgesamt war der Auftritt über weite Strecken der Partie viel zu schwach, um Union Saint-Gilloise in Bedrängnis zu bringen.

80. Minute: Nach einer Ecke trifft Union Saint-Gilloise zum 0:2. Koch verlängert den Ball auf den zweiten Pfosten, dort lauert der eingewechselte Eckert Ayensa und trifft wuchtig.
76. Minute: Amoura hält bei einem Trapp-Abschlag das Bein rein, der Eintracht-Keeper stößt den Offensivspieler der Gäste daraufhin um. Es kommt zu einem kleinen Gerangel mit mehreren Spielern. Beide sehen Gelb.
74. Minute: Mittlerweile gibt es Chancen auf beiden Seiten. Die Eintracht muss so langsam das Risiko erhöhen, um noch zum Ausgleich zu kommen.
