Persistent failure cost Thomas Tuchel his job at FC Bayern in the summer.

The trainer has analyzed the reasons for this - but he doesn't want to reveal them.

Munich – Thomas Tuchel's turbulent coaching time at FC Bayern comes to a sobering end at the end of the season after just 15 months.

In the last few weeks in particular, the team had fallen short of the expectations of the bosses, but also those of Tuchel himself, both in terms of play and results.

The question remains why Tuchel, who enjoyed such great success in his previous coaching positions, was not able to take FC Bayern to a higher level.

At the partly emotional first press conference after the separation became known in the summer, the 50-year-old made a meaningful statement.

Tuchel presents Bayern bosses with an analysis of the problem - but does not reveal it

“Those responsible know my analysis.

This is also a very self-critical analysis.

But this is definitely not an analysis for the public,” Tuchel explained cryptically.

Apparently the outgoing coach gave the bosses an explanation for the fact that “the development steps are not consistently visible”.

However, he doesn't want to reveal this to the media.

However, Tuchel does not want to believe that he is the sole culprit for the misery and the weak results.

“I don’t think I’m the only problem, but I have a responsibility,” said Tuchel.

He added: “If there was a clear culprit, then someone else would be on the PK.”

Tuchel also vehemently denied that the results weren't coming because he didn't "really warm up" to the club.

“Brass discrepancy between training and games”: Tuchel describes the phenomenon again

Rather, the trainer pointed out the big differences between training and game performance, as he has done again and again after some inexplicable defeats in recent months.

“We have a very diffuse picture.

We have a stark discrepancy between training and games,” said Tuchel.

He added: “As always, we trained at a good level.

I've sat here a few times and was convinced that we would deliver a top performance.

We couldn't do that."

However, only the FCB bosses know whether the coach provides an explanation for these large differences in performance in his analysis.

Tuchel can now “be more ruthless”

At the end of the press conference, however, Tuchel finally gave at least a coherent justification for the phenomenon.

“We haven't even had a situation all season where players had to fight for their place because they know the position is filled twice.

Because they know I have to deliver,” says Tuchel, annoyed about the ongoing injury misery and the lack of squad depth.

It is exactly “this bite, this energy to fight for your place every day” that the people of Munich are missing.

However, the separation at the end of the season now gives him more freedom overall when it comes to line-up.

“My decisions as a coach are now of course characterized by greater freedom.

You no longer need to weigh up the long-term impact of a decision.

“I can be a little more ruthless now,” explained Tuchel.

When asked about this, there was a brief argument between Tuchel and a Sky reporter.
