Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe suffered a heavy fall in the final of the Circuit Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday.
The Soudal-Quick Step rider, however, got up after being caught in a fall with Kasper Asgreen, also involving his compatriot Florian Sénéchal, visibly injured in his collarbone.
According to images from Belgian television, the three runners gave up.
Alaphilippe is having a complicated week after being strongly criticized by his manager at Soudal, Patrick Lefevere.
