The Bundesliga soccer team lost the playoff second leg against Union Saint-Gilloise 1:2 (0:0) and was eliminated after the 2:2 in the first leg.
In front of 57,300 spectators, the Hessians put on a disappointing performance in the duel with the league leaders from Belgium and now have to concentrate entirely on the league.
Cameron Puertas (47th minute) and Dennis Eckert (80th) sealed the defeat of the 2022 Europa League winner with their goals, for whom Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe (88th) only managed to catch up.

Against Saint-Gilloise, Toppmöller can once again rely on defense chief Robin Koch, who was missing from the Bundesliga game against SC Freiburg due to a yellow card suspension.
However, the Hessians will have to do without striker Sasa Kaljdzic, who tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee in the same game.
Defense chief returns to Eintracht's starting eleven
“We are happy that Robin Koch is back on board and know that he will give us good stability.
I personally congratulated Makoto Hasebe on his 300th game for Eintracht.
He gave us good security against Freiburg, as well as good stability with the ball. I don't see his performance as critically as he saw himself - but that also speaks for his character," the head coach praised the Japanese, who represented Koch had.
