Few things symbolize this more than a game between FC Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
The fact that the Red Bull advertising team from Leipzig came to the Allianz Arena for Munich's historic 1000th Bundesliga home game is not without a certain amount of humor.
Another part of Munich is also likely to smile when looking at Bayern's first Bundesliga game in the state capital.
Bayern's first home game ended with a sense of success
The top German league had to make do without FC Bayern for the first two seasons of the Bundesliga.
On August 21, 1965, FC Bayern started its success story at home with a 2-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Rainer Ohlhauser and Rudolf Nafziger scored the two goals on the second matchday of the 1965/66 season.
The game was played in the municipal stadium on Grünwalder Straße, which was replaced by the Olympic Stadium in 1972.
The end point of the moves was 2005, when the Allianz Arena became the current home of Bayern.

The win against Eintracht Frankfurt doesn't even mark FC Bayern's first Bundesliga game in Munich.
On the first match day of the season, they met local rivals and eventual champions TSV 1860 Munich in the municipal stadium on Grünwalder Straße as guests - and lost 0-1 to the Lions.
Despite what was, from Bayern's perspective, a painful start to the Bundesliga, they performed quite respectably in their debut season.
After the 34th matchday, Bayern took third place in the table and thus laid the foundation for their continuous and successful membership in the upper house.

Only 90 games were lost - goal difference across all home games: 2737:889.
That means an average score of just under 2.4.
Overall, FC Bayern has played the most successful club in league history since promotion 59 years ago in 1998.
1205 wins compare to 363 defeats (goal difference: 4482:2177).
