A strange situation arose during FC Bayern's Bundesliga home game against RB Leipzig.

Coach Thomas Tuchel didn't want to sit on the bench.

Munich – Everything new at FC Bayern?

Not quite.

The coach is still called Thomas Tuchel.

The record champions announced their separation from the coach during the week, but only at the end of the season.

Something was different in Bayern's Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig.

While the team's style of play did not bring any groundbreaking innovations, Tuchel found a new perspective from which to observe what was happening on the pitch.

Tuchel moves away from the Bayern bench: coach changes place

Tuchel didn't sit on the bench against Leipzig as usual, but instead grabbed an aluminum suitcase, probably a doctor's suitcase.

The 50-year-old placed the suitcase in his coaching zone and made himself comfortable on it.

Behind them sat sports director Christoph Freund, the substitute players and other employees on the bench.

A strange sight.

Did Tuchel perhaps want to make a statement after his departure or even distance himself from those responsible?

Tuchel celebrates Bayern's last-minute victory with Thomas Müller

In any case, Tuchel was really dissatisfied with his new seating during the game.

The coach waved and gestured a lot.

That's not all: Tuchel clapped his hands over his head several times.

After Tuchel had prepared the aluminum suitcase in the second half, he sat on the bench again later on.

In the end, he was still able to celebrate because Bayern secured a last-minute victory thanks to Kane's 2-1 goal.

On the sidelines, Tuchel celebrated the redeeming three-pointer together with the substitute Thomas Müller.

Job saved?

Tuchel will remain Bayern coach for the time being

At the press conference after the game, Tuchel was asked by a reporter whether the scene in the first half could be interpreted as him sitting on packed suitcases.

“That's exactly what I thought, I brought it with me from home.

My aluminum suitcase, all my things are in there, already packed.

That's why we did it this way.

It's nice that it arrived that way," said Tuchel with a healthy dose of humor, without making a face.

With the win, Tuchel is likely to have secured his job until the end of the season.

Before the game, there was already discussion about an early dismissal of Tuchel, and the Bayern coach himself was also unsure.
