When is the Weißwurst eaten in Bavaria?
Felix Neureuther almost makes the next mistake in his explanation of the Weiwurst faux pas with Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Munich – After the first few ski runs, head to the hut for a white sausage breakfast: for many Bavarians or Austrians, this looks like the perfect start to the day.
Felix Neureuther and Bastian Schweinsteiger thought so in mid-January.

After their first turns on the slopes, the two friends, ex-professional athletes, fortified themselves with the traditional Bavarian breakfast.
So far so good.
To the horror of many fans, the picture that Neureuther posted on Instagram at the time also showed what was next to Schweinsteiger's plate: a fruit tea.
“I received a huge shitstorm,” reported Neureuther on Thursday (February 22nd) on the BR show “Ringlstetter”.
“If you drink a fruit tea with your white sausage and not a wheat beer, that’s a huge scandal,” the ex-skier explains his mistake.

Neureuther explains the fruit tea as white sausage
To explain: In Bavaria, in most cases, a real white sausage breakfast includes a wheat beer - and not fruit tea.
How could Neureuther and Schweinsteiger, who both come from Upper Bavaria and are considered model Bavarians, make this faux pas?
“It was really cold, so we drank fruit tea and it was nice,” explains Neureuther, confessing that not only Schweinsteiger, but also he himself drank tea.

Neureuther almost makes the next faux pas
In his execution, Neureuther almost made the next mistake.
The 39-year-old reported that he and Schweinsteiger had eaten the Weißwurst at half past ten in the morning.
When the presenter and cabaret artist Hannes Ringlstetter heard this, he immediately interjected: “Of course you were lucky in front of all the traditionalists who were watching.”
Neureuther also seems to be aware of this and admits to having adapted his story slightly: “Yes, I know.
It was actually only shortly after 10 a.m., but that's why I said half past ten." To explain: In Bavaria, the white sausage is traditionally eaten in the morning - when exactly does not seem to have been finally decided.
Neureuther and Schweinsteiger skied together for the first time in a long time
In some circles it is said: The Weißwurst must not hear the “12 o’clock chime”, i.e. it must be eaten before 12 p.m., while in other places the church bell (10 a.m.) is considered an ultimatum.
Both Neureuther (Upper Bavaria) and Ringlstetter (Lower Bavaria) seem to know the latter custom.
Despite one or two faux pas or almost faux pas, Neureuther seems to have fond memories of the day.
"It was really nice.
It’s been a while since we went skiing together,” reports the ex-skier.
Next time it's that time again, maybe we'll have a wheat beer with the white sausage.
