A few days ago, ski star Wendy Holdener had to say goodbye to her brother Kevin.

Now the family shared an emotional memory.

Munich – Ski star and Olympic champion Wendy Holdener mourns the loss of her brother Kevin.

The 34-year-old died on February 22nd.

Now the family has found moving words of farewell on Kevin's Instagram page - and shared an emotional moment.

Because as the post and pictures show, Kevin married his fiancée just one day before his death.

The family wrote: “In your final act you married your fiancée.

As happy as you look in these beautiful pictures, we will keep you in our hearts.”

In the group photo from the wedding, 32 guests can be seen beaming with the couple.

Kevin Holdener sits in a wheelchair, has an oxygen mask on - and still seems overjoyed that he was able to marry his fiancée.

Just one day later he died as a result of a rare cancer.

After Kevin Holdener's death: Family finds moving words to say goodbye

The Swiss ski association Swiss-Ski announced the news of his death at the request of the family.

“At the request of the family, Swiss-Ski is fulfilling the painful obligation to inform about the passing of Kevin Holdener, brother and manager of Wendy Holdener and former squad athlete,” said a press release.

The family itself found further touching words for Kevin when saying goodbye: “With aching hearts and deep sadness, we had to say goodbye to our beloved fighter!

You brightened our lives on so many occasions and were taken from us far too soon.

You always followed your plans and lived your life to the fullest.”

A few days ago, ski star Wendy Holdener had to say goodbye to her brother Kevin.

Olympic champion Wendy Holdener herself also had her say in the Swiss-Ski press release: “The cancer thwarted Kevin's dream of his own skiing career.

“But Kevin impressed us with his will to survive and his love of life, he bravely stood up to the disease and was able to gain a few more valuable years of life from it,” the 30-year-old was quoted as saying.

Kevin Holdener was diagnosed with a complex and rare type of cancer at the age of 20 - and fought against it for 14 years.

Just a few weeks ago he celebrated his 34th birthday with his family.

“Now, unfortunately, his superpowers have diminished.

“Kevin began his final journey in the presence of his family after a long illness that he endured with dignity,” said Wendy Holdener, who broke her ankle in December.
