Charon Sherry's goal in the semi-final of the Dutch Cup, Nijmegen against Kambur/Sport1
Charon Sherry won three championships with Maccabi Haifa and played in the Champions League, but did not lift the state cup.
Maybe he will be able to do it again in the Netherlands, where he qualified tonight (Tuesday) with Nijmegen for the final after a 1:2 away win in overtime over Kambur.
The hosts, who are in seventh place in the sub-league, took the lead with a strike from Roberts Alderikis in the 24th minute, but Sheri scored from the corner point to equalize from the Japanese Koki Ogawa in the 60th minute.
Jasper Silsen saved Nijmegen in the 87th minute against a strike from Milan Smit and sent the game to overtime, where another Japanese, Kodai Sano, completed a turnaround in the 99th minute.
Nijmegen returned to the cup final for the first time since 2000, when they lost 2:0 to Roda.
Her two previous visits to the final also ended in losses (to Ajax in a pair of meetings in 1983 and to Breda in 1973) and she is 90 minutes away from a historic title.
Now it awaits the winner from the second semi-final, where the champion Feyenoord will host Groningen on Thursday, the team with which Sherry won the cup in 2015 and currently also plays in the second division (sixth place).
The final will be held on April 21 in Rotterdam.

Since moving to Nijmegen, the 35-year-old Sherry has scored in his first two games in the Netherlands and set up the own goal in Amsterdam, where his team drew a dramatic 2-2 draw with Ajax and are currently seventh in the Premier League.
Last Thursday he unexpectedly arrived in Belgium and supported the Maccabi Haifa players in the game against Ghent, on the way to the round of 16 of the Conference League.
