Max Eberl is the new sports director of FC Bayern.
The club officially announced this.
This means that a successor for Hasan Salihamidzic has been found.
Munich – It had been hinted at for a long time, now it is official: Max Eberl is the new sports director of FC Bayern.
The association announced this after a supervisory board meeting on Monday evening.
At this point, the Bayern bosses decided to appoint the 50-year-old.
This means that the search for a successor to Hasan Salihamidzic, who was fired last year, is over.
FCB confirms: Max Eberl will be the new sports director – “respect” for the new task
Accordingly, Eberl will take up his new position on March 1st and will receive a contract until 2027. For the long-time Gladbach manager, his involvement with the German record champions is a matter of the heart: “I spent my entire childhood and youth at FC Bayern and in Munich, so “It’s something special for me to be returning to the club where it all started in a new role,” the 50-year-old told the Bayern club media.
His new job as sports director is “a big challenge,” Eberl continued.
However, the former Bayern professional announced that he would approach it “with a lot of respect and humility” and “even more anticipation.”
“I and everyone here would like to do everything we can to ensure that FC Bayern continues to be successful in the future and bring joy to its fans.”

New sports director: Salihamidzic's successor Eberl carries Bayern DNA
The president of FC Bayern, Herbert Hainer, was also happy about the commitment of Eberl, who was surprisingly released from RB Leipzig in September: “We are very pleased to have hired Max Eberl as the new sports director.
“He not only has decades of experience in football management, but he also started playing football at FC Bayern and became a professional here,” Hainer also emphasized the Bayern DNA of the former manager of the “Fohlen”, for whom the Bayern are reportedly paying around 4.5 million euros in transfer fee to Leipzig.
The management of the record champions is “convinced that he will successfully shape and shape the future of this club,” said Hainer further about Eberl’s appointment.
This means that the successor to former sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has been clarified after around nine months.
He and the then CEO Oliver Kahn were fired immediately after the last season.
With Eberl: FCB board of directors will shrink after the season
By the end of the season, four people will form the board of FC Bayern: chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen, his deputy Michael Diederich, marketing director Andreas Jung and the now appointed sports director Eberl.
However, this group then shrinks.

After Jung's already announced departure on July 1st, the three remaining Bayern bosses will then divide his tasks among themselves.
The record champions' new, strong leadership trio has now been determined.
