Last Thursday, the Spanish prosecutor's office delivered its verdict, two weeks after the end of Dani Alves' trial.
The former Brazil international, 40, was found guilty of rape and received a prison sentence of four years and six months.
One of his former clubs, FC Barcelona (2008-2016 then 2021-2022), removed his name from its website, where he appeared in the list of club legends.
According to the Spanish daily Sport, “Barça made this symbolic act effective once the conviction for sexual assault was handed down.
» The former right-back, who also played for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, apparently disappeared from the FC Barcelona site last Thursday.
He played 408 matches in the Catalan jersey and notably won three Champions Leagues.
Still at the club museum
If the Brazilian is no longer mentioned on the Barça website, his image still appears in the club museum.
“He will always appear in the photos of the victorious Champions League team in Berlin (2015), for example,” explains the daily La Razón, whose editorial line is considered nationalist.
Because he was part of the team and it doesn't make sense, nor is it possible, to remove him from the picture.

In addition to the prison sentence, Dani Alves' sentence includes conditional release for five years after his release, a fine of 150,000 euros and a ban on contact with the victim for nine years.
The Brazilian, who spent a year and a half in pre-trial detention, intends to appeal.
