On Tuesday, Max Eberl will be officially introduced as FC Bayern's new sports director.

After that, the long-time Bundesliga manager will have to make important squad decisions.

Munich - Max Eberl's schedule is tight: On Monday he was appointed FC Bayern's new sports director by the powerful supervisory board, which met in the Allianz Arena from 5 p.m.

His first public appearance will follow on Tuesday morning: Eberl will be officially introduced at a press conference in the Fröttmaninger Stadium.

New sports director Eberl is supposed to give the FCB squad a radical treatment

And then the 50-year-old can finally intervene in operational business.

The sporting competencies on the board should be completely in Eberl's hands.

President and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Herbert Hainer has already announced this: “Sport is at the forefront for us.

And that’s why we should have someone on the board who is responsible for the sport.”

Eberl's task list is long.

There are currently rumblings not only because of Thomas Tuchel at Säbener Straße, but also in the team behind the team and in the youth department.

But the biggest priority, in addition to the search for a new head coach, is the radical treatment that Eberl should – and must – give the Bayern team.

A lot of work awaits the new Bayern sports director Max Eberl.

Eberl puts Bayern squad to the test - Dreesen's statements are surprising

The internal opinion is that the current team is equipped with contracts that are too high but not hungry enough for titles.

Apart from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, vice-captain Thomas Müller, goalscorer Harry Kane, defensive star Minjae Kim and exceptional footballer Jamal Musiala, everyone will be put to the test.

It is therefore surprising that CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen refuses to discuss the status of the squad.

“It is not appropriate to talk about the quality of the team.

We have excellent quality," said Dreesen after the 2-1 win against RB Leipzig and emphasized: "I would like to remind you that we not only brought in a world-class striker in Harry Kane, but also the best defender in the series in Minjae Kim A. So I can't see that we did anything bad in the transfer summer.

Quite the opposite."

Eberl is threatened with the first squad alarm in his first few weeks as Bayern's sports director

The expected title haul this season (zero) suggests otherwise.

This is where Eberl comes into play, who is threatened with a squad alert in his first weeks as sports director.

Among others, the contracts of Alphonso Davies, Leroy Sané and Joshua Kimmich expire on June 30, 2025.

Together, the trio has a market value of 225 million euros.

If Eberl wants to generate revenue, he would have to sell the players next summer - otherwise there is a risk of a free transfer and empty sales coffers a year later.

But which clubs are willing to pay the princely salary?

Or will the papers be extended?

And under what conditions?

Questions after questions, including the future of Leon Goretzka (contract until 2026).

The midfielder was already a candidate for sale in the summer of 2023 - and is again now.

Future of FCB left-back Alphonso Davies open – Eberl has to decide

The new sports director must act quickly, as is currently shown by the example of left-back Davies, who is being fiercely swarmed by Real Madrid - and is said to have already made a verbal agreement with the Royals.

Eberl doesn't even know the player personally and already has to make a decision.

In addition, the current situation with the vacant head coach position doesn't make future planning any easier: Which players can be convinced to move to Munich if they don't know what plans the new coach has for them?

Eberl has mammoth tasks waiting for him and there is little time to solve them.
