Oslo as the start of the farewell tour: Benedikt Doll ends his career

After the sobering results at the Biathlon World Championships (1x silver, 2x bronze), things should be looking up again for the DSV ski hunters in Oslo.

A total of six races are scheduled for this World Cup weekend.

“We want to continue at the level we have shown so far during the World Cup winter and fight for the top positions in every race,” sports director Felix Bitterling is quoted as saying in

Bild

.

The focus will be on Benedikt Doll, who announced his retirement at the end of the biathlon winter.

The 33-year-old has been one of the main players on the German biathlon team since 2012, and his 2017 World Championship sprint title is probably his greatest success.

German biathletes want to gain self-confidence in Oslo

In his farewell video on Instagram he said: “I invested everything again, gave my best for myself and the team to get the most out of this season and at the World Championships in Nove Mesto.” But now he wants to dedicate himself to new projects and more Spend time with the family.

Doll became the father of a son in the summer of 2022.

The entire German team needs to regain more self-confidence in Oslo.

Because at the World Championships in Nove Mesto the material was not suitable due to difficult conditions and the results were accordingly lacking.

Biathlon star Vanessa Voigt was subsequently confronted with hate comments online - and is certainly interested in showing what she's really capable of again at the last World Cup weekends.
