Max Eberl is the new sports director of FC Bayern.
He reminds executive coach Peter von Quernheim of ex-FCB boss Matthias Sammer.
Munich - Max Eberl officially starts at FC Bayern on Friday.
After Matthias Sammer (2012-2016) and Hasan Salihamidzic (2017-2023), the ex-Leipziger will now be the third sports director with a contract until 2027 to lead the record champions into glorious times after turbulent days and, this season, possibly without a title for the first time since 2012.

And who, in addition to outstanding coaching personalities - something that is often overlooked - also bore the stamp of a sports director who masterfully understood and enlivened his role as a coordinator between club management, coach, team and the market: Matthias Sammer.

FC Bayern: Executive coach sees parallels between Eberl and Sammer
During his time at FC Bayern, the opinionated man from Dresden repeatedly put his finger in the wound in a warning but carefully considered manner, even while celebrating.
Sammer was an admonisher, but could also praise.
From Quernheim's point of view, the former Munich boss knew how to cleverly close the gap to the limitations of the coaches at the time - Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola.
From the expert's point of view, Eberl should act similarly.
Von Quernheim sees parallels: “Sammer and Eberl have similar behavioral characteristics and in particular have a leadership ability that FCB has lost in recent months: harmony, emotional motivation and the social ability to protect the team and the club, to bring order and straightforwardness back into the current chaos.

Forming the individuals as a team again will be the most important task.
