Xabi Alonso is currently the most sought-after coach in Europe.

FC Bayern is apparently planning a record salary to lure the 42-year-old to Munich.

Munich – Thomas Tuchel is leaving, but who is coming?

FC Bayern must have found a new coach by the summer, and there are numerous names floating around in the rumor mill.

Bayer coach Xabi Alonso is apparently the Munich team's dream coach.

The German record champions would then dig deep into their pockets for him.

Record salary for Xabi Alonso?

FC Bayern apparently wants to pay a large sum

As the English newspaper

Mirror

reports, those responsible at FC Bayern would pay Alonso a record salary.

This is apparently around 23 million euros per year, which would quadruple his earnings.

He would also become the highest paid coach in the Bundesliga.

According to reports, Tuchel currently earns half as much at Munich.

Would that convince the Bayer Leverkusen coach?

What is certain is that the former Bayern professional is considered the ideal solution on Säbener Straße.

He has turned the Werkself into a real top team and - as of February 27th - is in first place in the Bundesliga table, eight points ahead of FC Bayern.

Matthäus is determined: “No one would be a better fit for Bayern Munich”

Expert Lothar Matthäus also sees no other candidate for FC Bayern than Alonso: “Xabi Alonso has to be at the top of FC Bayern's list because of his CV, his authority and his successful work in Leverkusen.

“I don’t know of a coach in Europe or the world who would be a better fit for Bayern Munich than Xabi Alonso,” he wrote in his

Sky

column.

At the same time, Matthäus does not believe that Alonso would follow the call of money.

“Xabi is not someone who gets carried away by big names; he has celebrated too many successes as a player.

He will also not follow the economics.

What matters to him is what he has built and who he has built it with.

He knows where he comes from and what he owes to the others.”

Liverpool FC is also courting Xabi Alonso

Speaking of “where he comes from”: At another former club, namely Liverpool FC, Alonso is also said to be at the top of the list to succeed coach Jürgen Klopp, who is leaving the Reds in the summer.

At Liverpool between 2004 and 2009, the Spaniard matured into a world-class midfielder and appeared on the pitch a total of 210 times for the club.

So he has a past with both Liverpool and FC Bayern.

But it is not yet clear whether he will even leave Leverkusen in the summer.

The personnel definitely remains exciting.
