And yet, at the age of 39, the king continues to amaze us time and time again and this morning (Thursday) he recorded one of the greatest games of his career and as you know, there were many of those.
After the frustrating loss in Phoenix, the Lakers met the Clippers for another tough game against a strong opponent.
A basket by Mason Plumlee at the beginning of the fourth quarter gave the Clippers a record lead of 77:98.
Then the show began for LeBron, who scored 19 points out of 34 he had in the game and led his team to the biggest comeback of his career in the fourth quarter on the way to 112:116.
LeBron scored in this quarter five of the seven three-pointers he had in the game.
LeBron was involved in 11 of his team's 13 baskets in this quarter (basket or assist).
After breaking the record of the immortal Kareem Abdul Jabbar, LeBron James is now close to another amazing milestone: he is only 40 points away from crossing the 40,000 career point mark.
As LeBron has seen in recent times, he will break this mark if not against Washington, then against the champion Denver at home in a game that will be held between Saturday and Sunday.

"The game is never over until it's over," LeBron said after the game, "Until you see two zeros on the clock, you have to keep playing. We kept fighting, we scored and we won. I just kept being consistent, was in attack mode. My guys did a great job finding Me and I tried to keep the pace. We were in the zone. It's hard to describe it."
"How can you be surprised by something this player does?", LeBron praised his teammate DeAngelo Russell, "A lot of our players excelled on defense, but he is the reason why we won the game. Everything started and ended with him."
The Lakers won three of the last four derby meetings and completed a seasonal sweep for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
However, despite this great victory, we must not forget that the Lakers already have 28 losses this season and are currently closer to Golden State in tenth place in the Western Conference than to New Orleans, which is three games ahead of them in sixth place, which gives them an automatic ticket to the playoffs.
