Lamb for Upamecano, fish for Tel: private chef reveals favorite dishes of the Bayern stars

Franz Fiedler from Neufinsingen has made a name for himself as the chef for Bayern stars.

After his job at FCB, he cooked for three professionals in their homes.

Bayern stars have to feel good when they eat

Times have changed for football professionals here too.

The topic of nutrition in football has now been turned into a science.

That doesn't make it any easier for the chefs of the Bundesliga professionals.

There are different meal plans within a team.

One person who knows this very well is Franz Fiedler.

Among other things, he worked as a chef at FC Bayern for six years.

Now he has founded his own company: Private Catering by Franz Fiedler.

“At Bayern on Säbener Strasse, you have to imagine it as being in a large living room.

There is also a professionally equipped kitchen.

They also have to feel comfortable,” says Fiedler.

The chef and nutritionist would decide what the football stars would get on the table.

“The players are also sent plans about what and when they should eat at home,” says the 26-year-old.

Whether they stick to it or whether a pizza is served on the table cannot always be checked.

But this is exactly where the Neufinsinger comes into play.

After six years at Bayern, he became self-employed and looks after Dayot Upamecano, Mathys Tel and recently also 35 million winter newcomer Sacha Boey.

The idea “fell into his lap,” said the amateur footballer from HD United Erding.

When he had already changed his career, he received a call from a consultant asking whether he could imagine cooking for a player at home, “because there was a demand from some of the boys.”

“I said I would look at it.

It was about Upamecano, and I didn't know him yet.

When you do something like that and you're at their house, it's very important that you get along well.

The players see me more than their own family,” said Fiedler, who, in addition to Bayern, has already cooked at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich and for the Kempinski Airport Hotel and most recently worked as a sales coordinator at Rungisexpress.

He is with the players three to four times a week.

He got along well with Upamecano straight away.

“Shortly afterwards, Mathys Tel joined us,” said Fiedler.

He also found a third client in Boey.

That's why he's now planning to hire employees.

Upamecano prefers lamb, Tel fish

When it comes to culinary delights, you have to manage the balancing act “between your meal plan and the boys’ preferences”.

“Dayot loves eating lamb.

Of course, the boys also like a burger every now and then.

Mathys likes fish,” said the former FCB employee.

It's not just the role of chef that is in demand.

He also spends time with the players.

They watch football “when they aren’t playing,” play games on the games console or play a table tennis match.

You become part of the family, he emphasizes.
