Imbroglio in the Coupe de France.
Faced with an Elite club for the first time this season, the Puy Foot club, defeated on its lawn by Stade Rennais (1-3) at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne in the quarter-finals, had a bad surprise at the end of the meeting, or so we thought.
After being accused of not having left its share of the revenue, by the financial director of Puy, Philippe Thiébault, Stade Rennais wanted to respond to the fourth division club via a press release.
“It is with amazement and total incomprehension that Stade Rennais FC became aware of the statements made by members of the Puy Foot 43 management,” we can read on the club’s website.
Supporting amateur football, the SRFC, as it had already done in the previous round with FC Sochaux (who warmly thanked it), once again donated its share of the proceeds from the Coupe de France match at Puy Foot 43, keeping only an amount strictly covering the expenses of his trip to St-Etienne.

A categorical denial from the Rouge et Noir which is accompanied by several reproaches against the leaders of the Ponot club and its supporters, who simply vandalized the vehicles of their Breton counterparts.
“This friendly gesture seemed to us to be welcomed.
But this is not the case.
This seems all the more regrettable to us as the Auvergne leaders did not deem it appropriate to welcome their Rennes counterparts as tradition dictates.
Likewise, the SRFC regrets the damage to its supporters' vehicles observed after the match.

After facing a Ligue 1 club in an enclosure full of 30,000 people, Puy will return to its Stade Massot and its average attendance of 600 spectators for its next home match, a derby on March 15 against Chamalières.
The current second in the National 2 championship was nevertheless able to receive congratulations and best wishes from Stade Rennais, who will know their opponent in the semi-final this Friday evening.
