The bad news continues to pile up for the Metropolitans 92. Red lantern of the French Championship - and almost condemned to relegation 11 days before the end of the season with 20 losses in 23 days - the Boulogne club has just see a fine of 10,400 euros imposed by the Legal Disciplinary and Regulations Commission of the Basketball League.
Pinned by the LNB at the beginning of February for having authorized amendments to players' contracts - which allowed them to leave the club under certain conditions - the Boulogne club was condemned for "breach of the provisions of article 79 of the regulations" which concerns the “transmission of contractual documents”.

This sanction, decided during the session of February 28, only concerns the case of leader Matthieu Gauzin, who had asked to leave the club to join that of Nancy, as a clause in his contract allowed him.
A transfer refused by the approval and qualification commission which considered that “this amendment, which was not transmitted to the LNB when the player was qualified, is contrary to the professional basketball collective agreement”.
The case of other Metropolitans players - who left during the season thanks to these endorsements - should be examined by the LNB's legal disciplinary and regulations committee.
“We are considering, within the framework of the new regulations, making the sanctions even more dissuasive so that the use of these clauses disappears,” Philippe Ausseur, president of the League, announced to us after the revelation of this affair.
