Kay Bernstein died of natural causes
No further information was given about the cause of death.
After the autopsy of Bernstein's body, the authorities had already announced that they "most likely assumed a natural death".
Toxicological and histological samples were taken for further examination.
After the sudden death of the club boss at the age of 43 on January 16th of this year, a death investigation was initiated in Brandenburg, where Bernstein lived on the outskirts of Berlin.
This is a normal process when the cause of death is unclear.

Kay Bernstein's cause of death clarified
Bernstein's death caused great sympathy and consternation across the country.
The former lead singer in the Ostkurve had been president of his club since mid-2022.
He was extremely popular with Hertha supporters because he made the club more approachable and down-to-earth again.
Bernstein was somewhat surprisingly elected president of the Berliners in June 2022 and was considered a fan-friendly club representative due to his past as an Ultra of Hertha BSC.
He was a founding member of the ultra group Harlequins 98.
Great condolences after the death of Kay Bernstein
Bernstein openly spoke out against the abolition of the 50+1 rule and recently voted against the DFL's new marketing strategy.
He also called for, among other things, a minimization of dependence on TV money.
In addition, he called for a salary cap and advocated a return to the core kick-off time on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
