Summary: Maccabi Petah Tikva - Maccabi Tel Aviv 2:1/Sport1
Maccabi Tel Aviv
After a performance that included two league victories over Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Be'er Sheva and progressing to the quarterfinals of the State Cup yesterday after a victory over Maccabi Jaffa, Maccabi Tel Aviv knows that they cannot afford anything less than a victory tomorrow (Saturday, 19:30, Sport4) over Maccabi Petah Tikva. One of the teams in the best form in the Premier League.
In the previous round, Maccabi Tel Aviv won 1:2 with a great goal by Eran Zahavi with a stationary ball.
In Kiryat Shalom, they hope that after the pair yesterday against Jaffa, when he came off the bench, Zahavi will return to conquer in the league as well and put an end to the drought that has befallen him in the more important enterprise as well.
Zahavi, who, as mentioned, did not start the day before, will return to the lineup tomorrow when Milson and Osher Davida, who are in good shape, should start on the wings.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv defense has quite a few problems ahead of tomorrow.
Derek Lucassen and Raz Shlomo are still ineligible and Avishai Cohen is yellow.
The team hopes that Enrique Saborit will be able to start, since he also has sensitivity in the groin muscles.
Assuming that Saborit will be able to play, the defensive line will most likely be the same as the one that started against Hapoel Beer Sheva with Idan Nachmias as right back.
In the midfield, Yoris Van Overeem, Gabi Kanikovsky and Ido Shahar are supposed to return to the team after the cup.
Will continue in the link.

Trivia
* The balance in the last 23 meetings between the teams in all formats: 18 victories for Maccabi Tel Aviv against only two victories for Maccabi Petah Tikva (the last in Bloomfield in the opening cycle of 2020/21) and three draw results.
* Nine times in the past the two have met in the 24th round, and surprisingly the balance is equal: four wins for each side and one draw.
The last time was four years ago and then Maccabi Tel Aviv won 0:2 when they hosted in Netanya.
In Bloomfield it hasn't happened since April 1984, when Elisha Levy equalized 1:1 for Maccabi Petah Tikva after a goal by Hai Krais.
* Maccabi Petah Tikva is undefeated in the last six rounds (four wins and two draws) and has conceded only twice.
Despite this, it is still the worst defense in the league with 39 conceded goals.
* Maccabi Tel Aviv gained 12 points this season from behind - more than any other team in the Premier League.
* In the 1:2 against Maccabi Petah Tikva in the first round, Eran Zahavi completed a turnaround with a free kick and counted seven consecutive rounds with a goal.
Since then there were 12 more league games in which he only scored against Hapoel Tel Aviv (two).
