Alonso is currently at the top of the Bundesliga table with Bayer Leverkusen.
The lead over FC Bayern is now eight points.

The team's chances of winning a title are better than they have been for a long time.
That's why Matthäus doubts whether Alonso will leave for Munich in the summer.

Matthäus doubts Alonso's farewell in the summer: "He's not finished in Leverkusen yet"
“Xabi Alonso isn’t interested in Bayern Munich yet, he’s not interested in Liverpool and Real Madrid either,” Matthäus is certain.
“He is only interested in winning three titles with Leverkusen in the next two and a half months.” The former professional from Real Madrid, Liverpool FC and Bayern Munich is considered a potential coaching candidate at all three former clubs.
After Tuchel's departure in Munich and Jürgen Klopp's departure from Liverpool in the summer, two of the clubs have an acute need for action.
However, Matthäus, who recently railed against the Bayern bosses, does not believe that Alonso will allow himself to be pressured into a change.
“In my opinion, he’s not finished in Leverkusen yet,” said the expert.
The Spaniard is not someone who is driven by economics or big names.
“He knows where he comes from and what he owes to the others.
That’s why I don’t necessarily see him at a new club next season,” Matthäus continues.
Tuchel successor: Matthäus brings Hoeneß into play at FC Bayern
Zinédine Zidane, Hansi Flick, Jogi Löw or José Mourinho – the list of possible candidates to succeed Tuchel is long.
If things don't work out with Xabi Alonso, Lothar Matthäus - like his expert colleague Didi Hamann - has another name on the list: Sebastian Hoeneß.

He also believes that the current coach of VfB Stuttgart can take on the coaching job at FC Bayern, "if he gets the support in the club, and his name already speaks for that." The nephew of Bayern's club patron Uli Hoeneß carries the Bayern gene and has already done a good job as coach of the second team.
“Everything he does in Stuttgart is relevant and he is still on course towards the Champions League with VfB,” said Matthäus.
Reports about another candidate to succeed Tuchel have recently caused a stir: Julian Nagelsmann is apparently interested in returning to FC Bayern.
In March 2023, the current national coach and the German record champions parted ways.
His exit on Säbener Strasse was not without background noise.
Nagelsmann had remained silent until now, but now he spoke plainly about his dismissal from FC Bayern.
