Versailles has just experienced several days in fast motion.
Friday February 23, the National club lost for the fifth time in seven games in 2024 (4 points out of 21) against Châteauroux (1-3).
Jean-Luc Vasseur, who lives in Yvelines, was present in the stands of Jean-Bouin, as he has been very often for a year and a half.
Informally, he was introduced to Alexandre Mulliez (president) and Fabien Lazare (general manager) who only knew him by name.
After a few hours of reflection, the club's owners decided to dismiss Grégory Vignal, who himself had succeeded Laurent Peyrelade, on November 7.
Their decision was notified to him on Sunday morning.
Determined to move very quickly, Mulliez, Lazare and Salomon Kashala (the sports director) then met Jean-Luc Vasseur as well as, according to our information, two other coaches.
But the exchanges with the latter appealed to the decision-makers.
As of Sunday evening, the agreement was sealed for a contract until June 2025 (if maintained).
Vasseur led his first training session and got to know his group at the Bougival center on Monday February 26.
He will be on the bench this Saturday in Villefranche for an already crucial match.
Since Tuesday and the victory at Le Mans in Villefranche (4-0), Versailles has indeed been relegated for the first time this season.
