Andreas Wellinger's ski jumping skills are well known.

In addition, the 28-year-old also seems to excel at dealing with animals.

Munich – Sport is a unifying element.

In addition to the strenuous challenges, many friendships and even one or two love relationships arise at both amateur and professional level - including in winter sports.

Former ski star Felix Neureuther and ski jumping ace Andreas Wellinger have a very special relationship, as the two revealed on the BR show

Wellinger looks after Neureuther's dog

The ski jumper Andreas Wellinger was a guest on the television show.

In a surprising clip, Felix Neureuther spoke up: “When are you coming to us again?

Our dog needs a babysitter, my friend.

You know what I'm talking about.

We miss you."

Wellinger couldn't help but grin and explained: "It was a few years ago that I was allowed to look after Buddy (editor's note, Felix Neureuther's dog) because Felix was traveling with Miri."

Wellinger is entering the last ski jumping month of the season

But it's not just the animal friend that seems to connect Neureuther and Wellinger.

The third-place finisher in the overall World Cup talks about another visit to the Neureuthers.

The focus was obviously on the cuisine: “I’ve already been invited to eat apple strudel.

“So we have to make up for that,” Wellinger continued.

However, the athlete currently has little time to visit.

The tightly scheduled Ski Jumping World Cup runs until the end of March.

Due to the large point gap, the Traunsteiner doesn't have many opportunities left in the last ski jumping month of the season to catch up with second-placed Kobayashi and overall leader Austrian Stefan Kraft.

Maybe in April at the end of the season there will be apple strudel and a bottle of Felix's favorite drink “Spezi” when we visit the Neureuthers.
