The start of the season was promising for Franziska Preuß.
Meanwhile, the German biathlon ace has to cope with one piece of bad news after the next.
Munich/Oslo – The German biathletes and especially Franziska Preuß were very happy.
At the first individual race of the current season in Östersund, the DSV athlete presented herself in impressive form and only had to give way to Lisa Vittozzi.
Franziska Preuß is in poor health: biathlete misses races in Oslo and Soldier Hollow
She achieved two further second places in the pursuit in Sweden and in the sprint in Oberhof, as well as various top ten placements.
But the tide has now turned and Preuss is currently the problem child in the German team.
The 29-year-old was unable to compete in all the races at the World Championships in Nove Mesto and had to cancel the relay due to illness.
And the streak of bad luck continues.
She also initially had to miss the individual at Holmenkollen in Oslo due to “infectious symptoms,” as team doctor Katharina Blume explained.
Now it is clear: Preuß will not compete in a race either in the Norwegian capital or at the following World Cup stop in Soldier Hollow (USA).
The DSV announced this on Friday afternoon (March 1st).

Franziska Preuß suffers from respiratory illness: assignment in Canmore still open
“Due to ongoing health problems (respiratory illness), Franzi cannot take part in the remaining races in Oslo or in Soldier Hollow.
Assuming perfect health, we aim to start at the WC finals in Canmore.
Get well soon, Franzi,” writes the DSV in the accompanying Instagram post.
According to the current status, it would still be 16 days until then, the journey is quite tough.
Whether Preuß would actually take on the hardships and what condition she would be in when she arrived in the United States remains to be seen.
“Then don’t bother with the long journey, you won’t be in top shape anyway,” says one user in the comments, which also contain numerous well-wishes.

I wish Franzi a speedy recovery.
Health is the most important asset.
Lg.” Particularly bitter: She ended last season prematurely and also missed the home World Cup in Oberhof.
However, things are going well for the German young hopes at the Junior World Championships, where the DSV team has already celebrated several medals.
