Highlights: National: Red Star held in check at Avranches, Versailles leaves the red zone at Villefranche. The new meeting of the third division in fact resulted in a draw for the Audoniens. Niort (2nd, victory against Marignane-Gignac 3-2), Martigues (2-1 against Épinal) and Nancy (4th, 3-1 over Nîmes) had all won their meeting. Enough to bring them six lengths or more behind the leader of N1.

For the 23rd day of National, this Saturday March 2, Red Star conceded a draw against a solid Avranches team. Also on the go

In the race to move up to Ligue 2, the Red Star pursuers will be able to congratulate themselves on a great (small) operation, on this 23rd day of National.

The new meeting of the third division in fact resulted in a draw for the Audoniens in Avranches, with a goalless score (0-0).

Held in check by Alan Kérouédan and his teammates, the Ile-de-France team lost two points on the chasing pack behind them.

Yesterday evening, Niort (2nd, victory against Marignane-Gignac 3-2), Martigues (2-1 against Épinal) and Nancy (4th, 3-1 over Nîmes) had all won their meeting.

Enough to bring them six lengths or more behind the leader of N1, dominating this season, and who has 50 units on the clock at the top of the ranking.

Red Star pushed without scoring

But, this Saturday, Habib Beye and the Red Star did not manage to break through the opposing safe.

The Saint-Ouen players certainly hit the post through Hacène Benali, and multiplied the chances in the second half, but they fell on solid Normans.

Who could very well have opened the scoring in the first act by Steven Nsimba, shortly after the half-hour mark.

Kérouédan was also close to achieving the small event of leading against the leader, in a René-Fenouillère stadium in support of players seeking to remain (13th and first relegated, 26 points).

The fact remains that this draw is a good point obtained by the locals, and one more towards the rise in L2 won by a Red Star team far from its usual standards of play.

For its part, Versailles brought home the victory from its trip to Villefranche Beaujolais (0-1) thanks to a goal from Ibrahim Karamoko just before the break (45th).

Enough to pick up on the beating of the day, a small point behind Villefranche (9th and 10th, 29 against 28 units), for the great first of Jean-Luc Vasseur, recently appointed coach of FCV78 to replace Grégory Vignal.

We win against Villefranche!

After three matches without a victory, Versailles won at the best time, left the relegation zone, and took off some pressure by placing itself back in the soft underbelly of the National, a territory however close to the relegation places.

Red Star, for its part, continues to aim for the heights despite this small setback.
