The Football World Cup on TF1 is over.
This Tuesday, Le Figaro announced that the group had not wished to increase its offer, another group having made a higher offer than that of TF1.
The private channel's teams were warned of this bad news in the morning.
The 2026 World Cup, scheduled for Canada, the United States and Mexico, will therefore be broadcast on another channel.
And it will be M 6. A few moments later, RMC Sport revealed that the private channel had recovered the rights to this World Cup and would broadcast all of the matches.
The different groups had until February 13 to submit their applications.
Faced with M6's offer, much higher than theirs, TF1 therefore decided to give in and give up on the big competition.
In 2022, in Qatar, it was BeIN Sports which broadcast all the matches.
TF1 had purchased the rights to the 28 best matches, including the opening match, five round of 16 matches, three quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final.
Viewers were therefore able to witness the stifling meeting between Argentina and France, which resulted in the victory of Lionel Messi and his team on penalties.
